Chapter One: Introductions To Life

***
They say that fate is everything to mankind. Fate is the key to understanding the human nature. Those who accept their fate are called weaklings, those who do not - strong. Fate can be discovered or left to the unknown, on the flow on the river of life. But why do people want to change their fate? Why can't they accept what is awaiting them? Why they choose to fight their doomed future?
Because they want to live. Because of their natural instinct of survivall.

-Recca! Wake up! We're going to be late! - Yelled Trinity - Get your ass off my couch!
Trinity Riale was a young girl with long brown hair and green eyes. Recca Flare on the other hand, had short brown hair and gray eyes. Both were best friends. They grew together, always been together and got into this story together.
The journey to the school was as usual: some style touch-ups, revising homework and eating breakfast (especially for Recca – she doesn't have the time to eat at the table, so she takes something to eat on the way to school).
Their school was actually an old castle that was transformed (interior) into a magnificent, rich, expensive and unique school. There were grades from 1st to 12th and college. People who get there in the first grade are either rich or lucky to have strong connections in the society.  The town they live in has not only one school – it actually has four.  They are not as rich as the St. Elicia's School, but people who go there do not get jealous. This castle is in their patrimony for over six centuries, so it's normal thing for them. From the two girls, Trinity was the rich one. Recca had lost her parents when she was 8, so Trinity's family took her in and rose as one of their own. But her name stayed the same. They were in the grade 10, so around 17 years old. Recca was the oldest one – only 6 months older. Their normal school routine consisted of 9 courses: English, History, Science, Latin, Mathematics, and other 4 proper to their school profile. Trinity's were Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Environmental Studies. Recca's on the other hand, were Languages, Political Studies, Law and Social Studies. Just by judging by their career choices, Recca should be the calm one and Trinity the feisty one. But they were the opposite: Recca – feisty and Trinity – calm. Both girls were as normal as every other student. They were respecting the school's order and discipline. The school was very strict about the behavior of their students. But even the strict school had its own bad students.

Recca's POV

-Who's going to answer my question? - asked professor Wackel – Who wants to try out his knowledge?
Several hands were already in the air. But Wackel wanted one and only person to answer the question – Seth Robeery. He was the only one person in the class who wouldn't, ever, answer Wackel questions. He would either sleep or not listen. More often even ignore the whole situation.  He was the school's Thief. Why? Because he would always have good grades without even trying to understand. People often say he stole somebody's answers. That's why he's Thief.
-The 16th century, sir, the time of slaughter and madness, both corrupted for the sake of pride. - answered Alek Mooren.
This particular person is called the Prince of St. Elicia's School. He was the president of the student council, the cool and intelligent type guy. The type of guys that will be never interested in the type of girl like me. But I was wrong. No matter what I would do, he would always be in my field of view. No matter where I go, he would magically be there. Almost everybody think I'm just too in love with him, so I see him everywhere. But it's not me who is in love, but HIM! Why would he then follow me everywhere? Anyways, I'm right now in my History class which I have with those two and Trinity. She has only 3 classes with me: Mathematics, History and English. But we still have much in common, so we don't get tired. I glanced over at Trinity. She was sitting and looking at the window, then she turned her head and saw me and gave me the look “Again?” I only positively responded. She knew me very well to do not know what I was thinking. I lifted my hand in the air, to ask a question.
-Yes, miss Flare? - Asked Wackel, - You have a question?
-Yes, sir. I wanted to ask about the Nitans. They say those people were raised as savages and trained to kill without thinking. Do those people were sentenced to death by George IX or were they left to liberty after the fall of the Backing prison?
Wackel looked at me as I was an alien. He didn't actually thought about it that way, at least that's what he told me. I looked at Alek and froze. His eyes were a deep shade of blue were looking at me and let me tell you - whose eyes were unique in the whole world. His short cut black hair was a little bit longer in front, so he got himself a fringe. His uniform was a three-piece suit : marine pants, white shirt, marine jacket and marine blazer. He was just the reflection of calmness and relaxation. He was looking at me, and judging by Melinda's reaction, for a long time. Again. No, all the time. But he is not the one who is going to deal with the anger of Melinda Baker, but me. She was his girlfriend. She started a rumor that he asked her to be his girlfriend and that she accepted gladly. He didn't object it, so it stayed like this. But one thing everybody knows: Alek never touched Melinda. Ever. She would always be by his side and hand on his arms, but he would never touch her. Even putting his hand on the waist or shoulder was not an option. We all don't know why, but that's the pure truth. Melinda on the other side, says that he is very protective over her and that if even he doesn't touch her in a vulgar way, than nobody should. But everyone knows it's a lie. Everybody knows that she is the school's whore. Everyone knows that he wouldn't touch her because of her impurity. They say that he even rejected one girl because she was not “pure” - touched by someone else than The Prince. But it doesn't change Alek's image – he's still the most wanted and the most popular guy at school. Girls want to have him, guys want to be him. Seth Robeery was some other stuff. . He was bad, arrogant, undisciplined, easily angered, aggressive (if he wouldn’t like you) and always looked unpleased. But his facial expression changes when it's sports or chemistry (that's what Trinity says). Nothing else. He is also very sarcastic and bitter towards anybody, but not always. You just need to get used to it and ignore him. Anyways, everything was perfectly calm until the rumor about the Halloween Party spread. Everybody was choosing their costumes, decorations were set and the invitations were up high. Right before the night of the party, Trinity and me went to see what costumes did the old occupants have. In the attic. We didn't find anything of the sort, but we found a strange box with beautiful carvings. The box was half - metal, half – wood. In its center was a beautiful, key-shaped carving. We tried to open it, but hopeless. So we left it the drawer of Trinity's writing table.

Trinity's POV

All the students of all ages were talking about the Halloween party that was coming soon. Even we fell under the total suspense of it.
“What will you wear?” I asked Recca out of nowhere as we were walking to our next class. “I haven’t decided yet.” There was no need to explain to Recca what exactly I was talking about; she knew it. Recca and I are on the same “mental wave” if we can call it that way. “And you? The stuff you showed me yesterday?” she asked sceptically, not exactly excited about my costume. “I mean you can be something positive for once. Not a witch or a vampire again! Or you like being the bad girl, huh?” she taunted me teasingly as I grimaced but couldn’t fight the smile that spread across my face.
This little talk got us so distracted that we accidently hit the two boys who suddenly just stopped in the middle of the corridor. “Sorry” we moaned together automatically and not even caring about who it was. We already were on the way ahead. “It’s okay” one calm voice said at the same time that the other groaned dangerously “Watch where you’re going!”
Recca and I exchanged bored looks. Not them again! Why do we have to meet Alek and Seth from all the thousands of people here?! Maybe Recca was right after all. Maybe Alek was stalking her or something.
“I said I was sorry!” Recca snapped more pissed than apologetic to Seth whom she ran into and who reacted so aggressively.
Before this bad guy could answer Alek interjected “Are you hurt?” He asked Recca so worrying that it seemed that he had run into her (with a car…). Seth rolled his eyes as I fought a laugh. “What a stupid question. Honestly!” Recca looked at him almost crazed by the annoyance of his question.
“Honey! Is this pest worrying you again?” Melinda came and shot Recca a burning glare. What was with her? Oh gosh! Why did she have to come? Can’t we just hit somebody by pure accident say sorry and get over it? Guess not. Not us anyway.
“What did you call me?” Recca hissed. I knew that expression on her face. If Melinda was stupid and did a false move now, she could say “goodbye” to her teeth.
“Don’t even DARE to come near MY Alek once more!!! You are so annoying! Always hanging on his neck! You…” she didn’t finish. Of course… She WAS stupid.
“WHAAAAAT???” Recca was shouting now like Melinda. Forming a circle around us, people wished to see a fight that was obviously coming.
“You are just a…” Recca hadn’t time to finish, interrupted by Alek’s hand on her lips with a mellow expression. She jerked away slapping his hand so hard that I wondered if she broke his fingers… I knew I had to interfere before this would turn into something bad. Alek hadn’t touched her before thought. He hadn’t touched any girl that way as far as I knew. Or was I imagining things and the whistling crowd misunderstood as well?
“Recca, leave this girl! She’s just desperate to get attention.” I grimaced as I used such a flattering word as “girl” to describe that bi*c*y. “Alek, go hide your doll somewhere!” Normally, I never get into problems. Especially not with Seth and Alek! But I will NOT stand that dolly-faced-idiot ruin our day that way! Alek gave me a look as if he heard my voice for the first time.
Where? She’ll dig her way out with those pink claws of hers anyway!” Seth was the one asking me. This guy looked pissed as usual but the corners of his lips pulled up a bit as if he enjoyed so much putting the dolly into dirt.
“In a metallic coffin. Buried in the deepest of the oceans. With that ocean frozen.” I said momentary afraid of how mean I was! Recca eyed me from the corner of her eyes. Think I never said things like that out loud in public before. Not like I wasn’t thinking them…
“Nice…” Seth admired with now a visible half-smile. “Haven’t thought of that one.”  Melinda’s eyes were almost as wide as her mouth that fell into a way too theatrical “O”.
“Did ya just offend meh? Ur a piece of trash as ya friendy iz. Where da hell have u got out of? Ur treat iz SO lame that I pity ya gurl.” She said moving her head on a “z” rolling her eyes.
“Weren’t you supposed to be kind of educated? You talk like a street beggar!” I made a disgusted face “Besides I’m the one who pity you! People with such a tiny brain as yours should be in “Guinness Records” and yet you are so unlucky that even they didn’t want you!” A sarcastically desolate mask was on my face and I shook my head. Was I overdoing it?  Recca burst a laugh relaxing her too-angry face. Seth chuckled behind Alek who looked half-shocked, half-disgusted. I didn’t pay much attention to the crowd now so thick that I felt claustrophobic.
Before the dolly blond had any other too-smart-for-her tirade, Recca said “Just get lost!” and on a much more threatening voice she added “You call us ‘trash’ again and that’s where you will go head first!”
Seth chuckled more amused now. Alek looked pleased that Recca had put the Blondie down and even kind of proud (since his was standing behind his wanna-be girlfriend and she couldn’t see him). Or was I imagining things again? Recca turned on her heels heading to the class. I followed. Her head was up and she looked as if she won a world cup or something. Mine was more like if I killed an annoying fly with a shoe. So we headed through the whistling and wooing crowd after smacking a fly with a world cup.
